For those of you who have not had the opportunity to visit Axis Chiropractic, it is conveniently located in Westerville on the corner of Cleveland Avenue and County Line Road in the 450 building. Axis Chiropractic was formally located at 161/Cleveland Ave from 2002-2012, but have upgraded to a beautiful new modern facility so they can continue to offer chiropractic and rehabilitation services, massage therapy, and nutritional supplements to even more members of the Westerville and surrounding areas. By using modern technologies and alternative techniques, Axis Chiropractic is raising the standard for chiropractic care. Dr. Ashkettle and Dr. Shearer are excited to offer their services to Westerville, Lewis Center, Worthington, Columbus, and the surrounding local communities.
Dr. Ashkettle’s and Dr. Shearer’s practice is based on traditional spinal manipulation with an emphasis on rehabilitation and soft tissue work. At Axis Chiropractic, the doctors treat all areas of back pain, neck pain, arm/shoulder pain, headaches, carpal tunnel syndrome, sciatica, as well as motor vehicle and work-related accidents. Dr. Shearer is a certified Advocare representative and is very knowledgeable in the nutritional areas of health and wellness. Dr. Ashkettle is a certified BWC provider and has successfully worked in the worker’s compensation system for over 10 years as both a physician of record and a treating provider.

Dr. Matthew Ashkettle
Dr. Ashkettle graduated from Shawnee State University in 1997, where he played baseball for 4 years while getting his business degree. He is a current member of the Shawnee State Athletic Hall of Fame due to his success on the field. In 1997 he attended Life University College of Chiropractic in Marietta Georgia, where he earned his Doctor of Chiropractic degree in 2001. In 2002, Dr. Ashkettle and his wife Brandi, moved to Columbus, Ohio and opened Axis Chiropractic which was originally located at Cleveland Avenue and 161. In April of 2012, he relocated Axis Chiropractic to a brand new modern medical facility at 450 Alkyre Run Dr in Westerville, Ohio where the clinic now currently resides.
Dr. Ashkettle has been active in treating all types of injuries and patients, including former OSU players, former NFL players, Columbus Crew players, the now defunct Columbus Destroyers, and participants and winners of the Arnold Classic.
Dr. Ashkettle resides in the Lewis Center area with Brandi, and his two children. He enjoys time with his family, including coaching his son’s baseball and football, helping with his daughter’s softball and soccer teams, and golfing.
Dr. Scott Shearer’s Bio
Dr. Scott Shearer has been a Chiropractic Physician for the past 11 years. His well rounded experience with pain management, corrective care and wellcare enables him to reach the diverse needs of his patients. His enthusiasm and dedication for chiropractic is evident in his ability and commitment to naturally restore each patient's optimal health potential, so they can enjoy life as it was intended; pain free and healthy.
After graduating from Life University, Dr. Shearer worked in a large practice in Akron Ohio for 3 years. A high volume practice with 3 doctors seeing over 300 patients a week. The patients ranged in age of infants to the elderly.
In 2004, Dr. Shearer relocated to the Columbus area where he opened his own practice. There he combined chiropractic wellcare with clinical nutrition in order to better help his patients achieve optimal health.
In 2006, Dr. Shearer joined Axis Chiropractic focusing on pain management, postural rehabilitation, nutritional care, and sports related injuries.
In his spare time, Dr. Shearer looks forward to spending time with his family. He has two children a daughter and son, Jenna (12),and Grant (9). Dr. Shearer is an avid runner and enjoys fishing and camping.
